Darwin Smith is a North Carolina native and the force behind the Brooklyn band Darwin Deez, and he is doing a short solo fan tour ahead of a new album release this August. I love Pitchfork's description of his debut - a "kooky, lo-fi set of maddeningly catchy nursery rhymes for Manic Pixie Dreamboys", and they compare his earworms to Foster the People and Passion Pit. But this isn't all twee, hipster fare - he is a really talented musician with great pop sensibilities and hooks that will keep the music looping in your head. He will spend the fall playing all over the world with his full band, including stops in really prestigious indie venues and even World Cafe Live. He is a really good pop musician with a robust fan following and we were lucky enough to catch him coming through!
